If you love homebaked breads but can’t really bake one good loaf, I’d suggest you try focaccia. It’s stupid easy to make yet the result is the most beautiful bread you’ll have ever made. It’s light, it’s soft, it’s chewy, it’s bread bliss basically.
You’ll Need
- 2 cups bread flour or All purpose flour.
- 1 tsp Yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 to 1.5 cup warm water
- 4-5 large cloves of garlic, paste
- 2tbsp+extra olive oil(please try using olive oil, if you don’t have it then opt for vegetable oil.)
- Other toppings like olives, tomato slices, onion slices, mushroom etc
Let’s Make
- Take 3/4th cup warm water and dissolve sugar, yeast and 1 tbsp olive oil in it. Let this get activated for 10 minutes.
- Sift the flour in a large bowl and add in the wet mixture and f. Now knead this for 10 minutes. You may have to add extra water. The dough needs to be on the stickier side but not so sticky that it’s impossible to knead. Just knead it with all your force for 10 minutes and you’ll have a nice soft dough all.
- Oil a bowl and let it double in volume. Then place this doubled dough in the fridge and let it chill for 24 hrs. This step will give you a much complex tasting bread.
- Next, take a baking tray and generously oil the bottom. Gently put the dough on the tray and carefully spread it evenly onto the tray keeping a thickness of about 1/2inch. Pour a little oil on the top and place your toppings and generously salt your toppings.
- Cover and let the dough rise for 30 minutes, then bake at 180°C until nice and goleden on the top.
- Let it cool and cut in slices and enjoy.
